Plain-English detail on what Code Buddy collects and why.

Last updated 16 October 2026

Draft for review. This page describes how Code Buddy actually works today, but it hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer yet.

Code Buddy is operated by MyEvent Labs (contact hello@myevent-labs.io). We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Code and notes you submit

  • Every run sends your code, note and (in Pro multi-file mode) error log and files to our AI provider to generate the result. It processes this under its API terms.
  • Free runs are not stored by Code Buddy once the result is returned.
  • Pro runs are stored in your history (with our database provider, hosted in Sydney) until you delete the run or ask us to delete your data. We keep up to your latest 500 runs.
  • Share links make a run viewable by anyone with the link. You choose whether the link includes code. Revoked links stop working straight away.

Account and payment details

  • Pro checkout happens on our payment provider's checkout page. It collects your payment details and email; we receive your email, subscription status and a customer ID, never your card number.
  • To sign in we email you a one-time link using our email provider. Your email address is kept with your Pro history and subscription check (database provider).
  • Signing in sets an httpOnly cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Paying sets a similar cookie that marks the browser as Pro.

Usage limits and analytics

  • To enforce daily limits we store a count per IP address, per Pro subscription and per sign-in email, by UTC day (database provider).
  • We use cookie-free page analytics from our hosting provider for page views and a few anonymous events (for example, a run completed or the Pro checkout button pressed). It doesn't use cookies and we don't send code, emails or other personal details in events.
  • Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs.

Overseas processing

We use these categories of service providers: an AI provider (generates fixes), a payment provider (checkout and subscriptions), an email provider (sign-in links), a database provider (Pro history and usage limits, hosted in Sydney), a hosting and analytics provider, and a bot-protection service (checks Free runs). Our AI, payment, email, hosting and bot-protection providers may process data outside Australia, including in the United States. Email us if you'd like to know who they are.

Your choices

  • Delete any Pro run from the Pro studio. Deleting a run also disables its share links.
  • Email us to access, correct or delete your data, or to close your account.
  • If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
